[ could it be?? someone from an earlier time as him?? He's actually quite delighted with the idea, since it's definitely annoying to be so behind everyone else. Especially when your whole "thing" is purporting to be all powerful and all knowledgeable. ]
Very similar, yes. A butler is the highest position of servitude, so they traditionally are the person that looks closely after the master of the household and attends to his needs and wants. Technically the steward would be a different position of a higher rank, but my master prefers to keep a small staff, and so I fulfill the duties of both steward and butler. The steward manages the household's minutia, and it is the butler's job to make sure that it and its lord are in perfect order.
It is not so vicious, mind, but my master attended the court of a queen, and missteps are similarly not tolerated. So to say that it is something of my job to put someone else in the spotlight and to compliment and enhance their own attributes is not inaccurate.
I imagine a salon would be an excellent opportunity. I have not heard of it, but I can only imagine a salon started by a COST recruit will draw quite a few interested persons. Considering their rank, I do not imagine it will be too hard to at least find one Aranean who knows them well.
